Scarba: Scotland’s Secluded Gem
Imagine having your own private island. Kilmory Lodge, located on the uninhabited Island of Scarba in Argyll, offers just that. Nestled just north of the Island of Jura, this secluded gem provides an exclusive west coast holiday experience like no other. Here, the rugged beauty of Scotland unfolds before you: sea eagles and golden eagles soar above, while sea otters and seals frolic along the shore. With its rich wildlife, stunning Hebridean vistas, and absolute privacy, Scarba is a true sanctuary. We are privileged to be part of this extraordinary destination.
The peak of Cruach Scarba towers at 1500 feet, offering uninterrupted, breathtaking views of the Hebrides. Scarba is surrounded by various islands and skerries, featuring countless beaches and rich wildlife.

Kilmory Lodge Getting There
Accessing the 19th-century Kilmory Lodge is an adventure in itself, requiring a private charter boat, seaplane, or helicopter. The lodge is best described as ruggedly luxurious, with five double bedrooms and a sixth room with six bunk beds, perfect for kids. The top-floor bedrooms boast a modern, light décor, while the first and second floors maintain their traditional charm with original paneling and log-burning stoves, creating a cozy lodge atmosphere. If the thought of peat in your bathwater doesn’t appeal, this may not be the place for you. But if you’re enticed by delicious, locally sourced langoustine and lobster, serene beaches, boat trips, and the world’s best sunsets, then look no further.
Booking & Availability
The lodge is available on a fully catered basis for groups of up to 8-10 guests. Each morning, the chef prepares a hearty breakfast before the day’s activities, which might include a packed lunch or a barbecue on the beach, followed by a three-course dinner back at the lodge. The Kilmory chef uses only the freshest local ingredients, with langoustine delivered right to the pier, making every meal part of the Scarba experience.
“We had an awesome week on Scarba, we were superbly looked after by George and his team who went to great efforts to make sure we had a fabulous time. We did so many things – fishing, catching crabs, swimming, BBQ on the beach and visiting local secret spots led by George who put it all together seamlessly and with enthusiasm. The food was superb with lots of freshly caught seafood. This was a truly unique experience which none of us will forget in a hurry.”
